A new quarterback is set to step up to the next tier of American Football. Quinn Ewers, the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, will make his declaration for the NFL Draft.
ESPN reported the news on Wednesday afternoon, citing Ewers’ representative, Ron Slavin. Ewers subsequently shared a video on X, the site previously known as Twitter, confirming his intentions to transition to professional football.

“My entire life, I’ve dreamed about playing football on the 40 acres,” Ewers stated in his video. “These past three years have been among the best I could have imagined. The connections I’ve forged with coaches and teammates will be lasting connections.
“I’m genuinely grateful for the chance to play football in my home state at the greatest university in the world. After prayer and careful thought, I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft.”
In Texas’ inaugural season within the SEC, Ewers enjoyed a standout year, throwing a career-high 31 touchdowns. He led the Longhorns back to the College Football Playoffs, where they triumphed over the Clemson Tigers and Arizona State Sun Devils before losing to Ohio State in the Semifinals.
Now, as the cover athlete for “EA Sports College Football 2025,” Ewers will join a select group of quarterback prospects, which includes Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Miami’s Cam Ward, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, among others.
