The NFL has examined the situation involving Mac Jones, quarterback for the New England Patriots, and has come to a conclusion concerning the claim made by Sauce Gardner.
On Monday, Gardner posted a video displaying the purported incident. In the recording, Gardner shoves Jones after he emerges from a scramble following a quarterback sneak in Sunday’s game. Gardner alleges that Jones struck him in the groin area.
As per Tom Pelissero from NFL Network, Mac Jones is unlikely to face suspension due to the recent accusations put forth by New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. Nonetheless, there is a chance of a fine being levied.
Multiple video snippets have circulated on social media, but none present definitive proof of any improper conduct on Jones’s part.
While conversing on “Jones & Mego” this week, the third-year quarterback mentioned that the occurrence was accidental. This isn’t the first instance where Jones has encountered allegations of unsportsmanlike behavior. In the prior year, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple accused Jones of engaging in “unsportsmanlike conduct” after he lunged at his legs during an interception. Additionally, Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay voiced his criticism on social media, labeling Jones as “Unclean af!!”
Last year, the NFL penalized Jones for the low strike on Apple and a separate uncalled for roughness infraction during the same game.
