New NFC Team Makes Bold Move By Acquiring Saints’ Running Back Alvin Kamara In Effort to Boost Super Bowl Hopes

Whilst the New Orleans Saints haven’t publicly indicated any desire to trade standout running back Alvin Kamara, the NFC South franchise may want to contemplate transferring the five-time Pro Bowler while he’s still excelling.

For three consecutive years, New Orleans has been absent from the postseason, yet they’ve delayed the inevitable necessity for a total overhaul. General Manager Mickey Loomis might kick off a reconstruction phase by mulling over a trade that includes Alvin Kamara.

The versatile standout has consistently produced over 1,100 yards of offense throughout his seven-year tenure in the NFL. Despite sitting out four games in 2023, Kamara still managed to exceed that threshold for a New Orleans offense that grappled with inconsistencies throughout the campaign.

As per Over the Cap, the Saints are presently projected to be $72.893 million over the salary cap for the year 2025. Kamara’s salary cap effect for 2024 is $18.553 million, but it drastically escalates to a whopping $29.077 million for the following year.

The Dallas Cowboys emerge as an appealing landing spot for Kamara, particularly considering their immediate emphasis on winning. With the departure of top RB Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, relying solely on Ezekiel Elliott to replicate his 2018 form might not be feasible.

A fair proposal for Kamara could encompass a 2025 third-round draft selection, coupled with a renegotiated contract to relieve Dallas’ financial restrictions. Kamara is likely eager to unite with a Super Bowl contender and would easily clinch the RB1 position in a Cowboys backfield that lacks depth.

The Mutual Benefits of Trading Alvin Kamara

Even as he approaches his age-29 campaign, Alvin Kamara displays no indications of slowing down. Partnering with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Brandin Cooks could enable the durable RB to effortlessly surpass 1,500 yards of offense.

For the Saints, parting ways with Kamara now would generate crucial salary space for the upcoming season, with Jamaal Williams and 2023 third-round selection Kendre Miller capable of stepping into starting roles in the backfield.

Taking all aspects into account, this proposed trade seems advantageous for all parties involved.
