As the NFL postseason approaches, the significance of each competition is heightened. Heading into Week 17, the Seattle Seahawks find themselves one game behind the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. With only two games left in the regular season, their Thursday Night Football clash with the Chicago Bears became a critical victory.
Fans Express Outrage During Seahawks vs. Bears TNF Showdown
However, despite the game’s significance, fans were quick to express their displeasure with the quality of the Thursday Night Football experience. With 2:48 remaining in the second quarter, the score stood at a dismal 3-3 between the Bears and Seahawks. This lackluster performance led to a wave of frustration on social media, with viewers airing their grievances.
“Is there any particular reason why they feel the need to have a game midweek rather than just on Fridays? These Thursday games are dreadful,” a fan remarked on X, formerly Twitter.
“Every Thursday night football game has been terrible,” another fan added.
Hall of Famer Raises Concerns Over Caleb Williams
There was significant optimism for the Chicago Bears at the start of this season. After selecting quarterback Caleb Williams with the top pick in last year’s draft, it seemed Chicago was finally on the upswing. Yet, thus far, Williams’ first season has been disappointing. Fans in Chicago are facing another year without playoff contention, remaining at the bottom of the NFC North standings.
It isn’t solely Williams’ uninspiring statistics that have raised eyebrows. His demeanor on the sidelines has also caused concern in recent weeks, as he displays visible frustration. NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman, a Monday Night Football analyst, has warned that if this trend continues, Williams may struggle with confidence issues.
“We observed him on the sidelines; he was visibly upset and appeared to be in significant discomfort. It’s clear that he’s in a place of defeat,” Aikman stated.
“I pointed out that he hasn’t experienced this level of adversity in his career before. The real concern is whether a rookie quarterback can maintain confidence under these circumstances,” said Aikman.
