An emerging NFC competitor emerges as a squad to monitor in the upcoming free agency chase for Tee Higgins.
Failing to reach an agreement on a fresh contract ahead of the 2023 season, Higgins and the Cincinnati Bengals, whose financial approach is generally prudent under owner Mike Brown, are on track for Higgins to hit free agency for the first time in his career.
As per a former NFL executive quoted in an interview by Evan Massey of NFL Analysis Network, the Green Bay Packers seem set to make a significant move in the free-agent market, with Higgins being identified as a possible acquisition:
“I believe Green Bay is an intriguing option to keep an eye on. With Jordan Love at the helm, they are determined to build a strong supporting cast around him. While content with their current wide receivers, it appears they are contemplating a bold move for someone like Tee Higgins.”
Although already boasting a talented group of youthful pass-catchers flanking Jordan Love, including Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft, the Packers could gain from acquiring an established standout like Higgins, who has recorded two 1,000-yard seasons and 24 touchdowns in his career.
While Green Bay is not known for splurging in free agency, they do possess the financial flexibility to secure more offensive weapons to back Love. Thus, it’s logical for them to investigate the prospect of signing a player of Higgins’ caliber to strengthen their already high-octane offense.
