The New Orleans Saints have officially seen their situation deteriorate. Following a defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team has now lost three consecutive games, bringing their season record to 2-3. This is not what they anticipated after starting the season with a 2-0 mark.
Derek Carr Facing Time on the Sidelines
In addition to their struggles, starting quarterback Derek Carr sustained an oblique injury during the game and was unable to return. According to NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapaport, Carr’s injury is expected to keep him out for
multiple games.
“QB Derek Carr is projected to miss several games due to an oblique injury incurred against the Chiefs. New Orleans has two games scheduled in the upcoming nine days, and it seems likely that Carr will be absent on Sunday against the Buccaneers and on Thursday against the Broncos,” Garafolo tweeted on October 8.
“Derek Carr is fiercely competitive, so he will push to return. However, the consensus among the medical team and trainers is that they will ultimately decide whether he plays, considering the seriousness of his oblique injury,” stated another source.

Fans Voicing Concerns Over Injury
Derek Carr has played a crucial role in the Saints’ strong start this season. Given that they were trailing by less than two touchdowns at halftime, one can only speculate the potential outcome had Carr been able to finish the game. Following the injury update, Saints fans took to social media to express their worries for their starting quarterback.
“Damn, this is unfortunate for them. They were really performing well,” commented one user on X, formerly Twitter.
“With the Saints facing their next two games back-to-back, this Derek Carr injury only makes matters worse. I doubt the team will perform well in either game, especially since they are already grappling with numerous injuries. It’s going to be a challenging few weeks for them,” another user noted.
As Carr is likely to be sidelined for an extended period, the franchise’s outlook appears increasingly bleak, particularly since their upcoming schedule includes matches against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
