Prior to Week 1 of the collegiate football season, University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, known as ‘Coach Prime,’ conveyed an announcement to all the players on his squad who are currently fathers. Through a partnership with Elevations Credit Union, they will be establishing bank accounts for each of their offspring.
Earlier last week, NFL Hall of Famer Sanders shared a tweet expressing his search for a bank willing to collaborate with him and some team members, and now, it is clear what this initiative is about.
I’m looking for a Bank in Boulder or Denver that’s wants to have a business relationship with a few members of our team. It’s gonna bless whichever Bank that partners with us. Let’s Go. #CoachPrime @CUBuffsFootball @SMAC

Before delivering the positive update during a practice gathering, Coach Prime called out all the players on the roster who had children, emphasizing the significance of embracing the role and duty of being a fatherly presence.
“Want y’all to know I ain’t here to say y’all are in trouble,” Sanders noted. “You haven’t done anything amiss. In fact, you did something well. And a child is not a mistake. A child is a chance for you to grow, mature, and acquire new skills…”
“You’re aware of my views on fatherhood, and you know I wouldn’t bring a coach on board unless he’s a superb father. I won’t hire a coach who’s neglectful. I don’t engage coaches who shirk their responsibilities… I would never employ someone who claims he will look out for you, yet neglects his own. That doesn’t register with me.”

“Coach Prime extended an invitation, and Elevations Credit Union answered,” a representative from the bank announced in front of the players. “Coach Prime encouraged us to join him today in establishing accounts for the children of some student athletes whom he greatly values.”
Moreover, each account will be initiated with $2,121 (in tribute to Sanders’ #21 jersey) to support the financial foundation of the players’ future generations.
In terms of on-field performance, despite a hopeful beginning in Coach Prime’s inaugural year as head coach of the Buffaloes, Colorado concluded the previous season with a 4-8 record.
That being said, with a fresh recruiting class and being led by the coach’s son at quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, there is great optimism for the forthcoming 2024 season, as the team is slated to compete against the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday, August 29 at 8:00 pm ET (ESPN).
