Despite a lackluster 6-7 season thus far, the San Francisco 49ers still hold a viable opportunity to win the NFC division. Their recent victory, a decisive 38-10 win against Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears, suggests they might be regaining their form.
Deebo Samuel Takes Apparent Shot at Brock Purdy
However, not everyone on the 49ers seems satisfied with the team’s trajectory. Notably, star wide receiver Deebo Samuel expressed discontent, recording just 2 receptions for 22 yards against the Bears, disappointing many fantasy owners and bettors.
Deebo seemingly acknowledged the criticism and took to social media, hinting that the struggles he faced could be attributed to San Francisco’s starting quarterback, Brock Purdy.
“Not struggling at all just not getting the ball!!!!!” Samuels said in a now-deleted tweet.
Trent Williams Gives Honest Take on 49ers
The 49ers were anticipated to be strong contenders following their Super Bowl defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs last season. Thus far, they have mainly appeared to be superficial contenders. However, they still have a path toward securing their division, depending on the outcomes of future games.
Some speculate that the various injuries the 49ers have faced are significant contributors to their underwhelming performance this season. Nonetheless, All-Pro tackle Trent Williams views the situation differently.
“It’s a couple of guys that we want to see get more action anyway. Hate that it had to come on the heels of somebody being injured, but this is when opportunities present themselves,” Williams remarked earlier this season.
“Nobody would have known Jordan [Mason] if a couple of guys didn’t go down, and nobody would have known Brock if we didn’t lose three quarterbacks in one year. So it’s a blessing in disguise, and guys just got to be ready to step up and relish in the moment.”
