With fewer than two weeks remaining before the kickoff of the NFL season, the roster of the Dallas Cowboys will certainly include 25-year-old wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Following an offseason standoff amidst contract negotiations, both parties have come to a consensus on an agreement.
In other words, the wait is concluded for Cowboys enthusiasts; it was reported on Monday afternoon that the three-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year extension valued at up to $136 million.

Lamb has been regarded as the franchise player of the team ever since he was picked by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2020 Draft. Over the course of his four-year career thus far, Lamb has participated in every game and displayed his abilities as one of the finest players in his position.
Reflecting on last year’s 2023 statistics, Lamb was ranked first in receptions (135), second in total yards (1,749), and third in touchdowns (12).
It is noteworthy that this arrangement now places Lamb as the second highest paid non-QB position player, following Minnesota Vikings’ counterpart Justin Jefferson, who secured a four-year/$140 million contract earlier this offseason.
Ultimately, Lamb may have some ground to cover, as he forwent all training camp sessions while negotiating for his new contract.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has conveyed his dissatisfaction to the media this summer about Lamb compelling the team to compensate him by threatening to abstain from play, even since he was still under contract.
“One of the aspects I wish for the fans to genuinely grasp is that nine times out of 10, these are pre-existing [contracts] that you have in effect,” Jones stated. “And you ought to be able to function within those confines, but in the NFL, it has evolved, and other teams are facing similar issues, where even with time remaining on the contract, discussions about the contract might still occur.”
In summary, now that an agreement has been finalized, the financial debates can be set aside, as the team will shift its focus to on-field performance, which is set to commence on September 8 at 4:25 pm ET, as the Cowboys face off against the Cleveland Browns in their Week 1 contest.
“Winning — I am eager to win and to be out there with my teammates, making another push for this,” Lamb remarked following the announcement. “Yes, I will be in Dallas!”
