Charles Woodson embodies Michigan entirely, so it is only logical that his venture, Woodson Whiskey, has become the inaugural spirit sponsor at the university. The 1997 Heisman Trophy recipient conveyed how this new alliance amplifies his pride in being an alumnus.
In the news release, Woodson reflected on the mantra he adhered to during his college years, “Those who stay will be champions.” He remarked that it wasn’t until this moment that he discovered what comes next after leaving, stating, “Those who come back will be champions once again.”
He has ensured to maintain that principle throughout the establishment and operation of Woodson Whiskey. He launched the business in 2021. In addition to sponsoring his alma mater, the brand also partners with the NFL team he flourished with, the Las Vegas Raiders. Beyond whiskey, Woodson also manages a wine enterprise in his collection.
When he introduced his whiskey, Michigan was the first state to facilitate distribution. At that time, he informed Grand Rapids Magazine that the state had “always supported me in everything I have done,” making it the right place to begin.
“The fans understand that I don’t just attach my name to any product, so I’m excited to return to Michigan and present to you my latest creation,” he communicated to the publication.
The spirit will be available at the Big House as soon as this weekend when the No. 10 team in the nation hosts No. 3 Texas. Woodson will be present, according to Woodson Whiskey’s news release.
The range of products that Woodson Whiskey provides aligns with his heritage. He features a 65th Anniversary Limited Edition Raiders Commemorative Bottle bearing his image. There’s a Team 144 Michigan bottle and a Blue and Maize signature series. He also has a Green and Gold series (Green Bay Packers) and a White & Silver series (Las Vegas Raiders) that pay tribute to his NFL franchises.
Woodson has been and continues to be the sole defensive player to earn a Heisman Trophy. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro First-Team selection in the NFL after being drafted No. 4 overall in the 1998 Draft. He has been inducted into both the college and professional football Hall of Fame.
