Browns rookie Michael Hall Jr. has been confronted with serious accusations, after his fiancée allegedly claimed he committed domestic violence earlier this month. Nevertheless, she has now withdrawn her allegations, informing a prosecutor that she was “incorrect” when she previously accused Hall of threatening her with a firearm during a volatile confrontation at an Avon, Ohio residence.
Hall was apprehended in connection with this occurrence on August 13, where according to the initial declaration from his fiancée/mother of his child, he had pressed a gun against her head, stating “I will f***ing end it all. I don’t care.”
According to the New York Post, the conflict was sparked by a disagreement concerning finances for a child Hall’s fiancée had from a prior relationship.
Overall, the 21-year-old athlete pleaded not guilty, but in light of the circumstances, the police report indicated “numerous signs of a physical confrontation.” Additionally, two firearms were discovered on the mattress in the bedroom.
Significantly, this is not the first instance of a domestic dispute between the pair, as there was an earlier occurrence in which she reportedly hit Hall with a glass bottle over the top of his head. Similar to this situation, the charges were later dismissed when Hall opted not to testify against the mother of his child.
With Hall being a northeast Ohio native who played at Ohio State and was drafted by the Browns in the second round (54th overall selection) in this year’s NFL Draft, the ramifications of a potential suspension remain uncertain. Notably, Hall returned to practice a day after his arrest, having posted a $10,000 bond for his release from custody.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski chose not to comment on the situation during last week’s practices.
“Respectfully, I don’t have much to add,” he told reporters. “I’m going to let legal processes unfold.”
Ultimately, this issue will be assessed under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, with additional updates to come.
