Antonio Brown Calls For Philadelphia Eagles To Dismiss Nick Sirianni And Hire Bill Belichick As Head Coach

Under Coach Nick Sirianni, the Philadelphia Eagles have been on a troubling decline. They have suffered losses in 10 of their last 13 games, culminating in a disappointing 33-16 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their latest match.

This situation has prompted various discussions, including input from former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, who took to X to question Sirianni’s credentials as a head coach. Brown suggested that six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Belichick would be a strong candidate to lead the Eagles.

“Eagles need Bill and Bill needs the Eagles,” Brown stated. “Bill Belichick gets a head coaching job before May? Bid yes. $500. $832 payout, if right.”

Belichick, holding the record for the most postseason victories by any coach (31), would undeniably bring immense value to the Eagles. His unique record of being the only coach to enjoy seven seasons with 13 or more wins could potentially serve as a remedy for the problems currently plaguing Philadelphia.

Additionally, pairing Belichick with a quarterback of Jalen Hurts’ caliber could create a successful combination on the field—a point that Brown seems to advocate.

One fan echoed Brown’s sentiment, articulating how the inclusion of the former Patriots head coach could transform the Eagles’ fortunes:

Another supporter expressed a similar viewpoint:

However, not everyone received Brown’s suggestion favorably.

One critic pointed out Brown’s own decline following his well-publicized exit from a Buccaneers game in January 2022, responding:

Meanwhile, another user shared her thoughts, arguing that Belichick could be more suitable for an AFC team rather than joining the Eagles:

Interestingly, Antonio Brown is not alone in pushing for a coaching shift within the Eagles. Analyst Colin Cowherd shares a similar perspective regarding Sirianni’s performance.

Colin Cowherd critiques Nick Sirianni following Eagles’ lackluster display

On his podcast, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the sports commentator did not hold back in expressing his viewpoint on Nick Sirianni’s prospects with the Eagles.

“Nick Sirianni was not ready for it when he got the job,” Cowherd remarked. “He’s not necessarily a great coordinator yet. He could be a great position coach.”

Cowherd attributed Sirianni’s previous success since joining the Eagles in 2021 to former offensive coordinator Shane Steichen. After Steichen accepted a head coaching position with the Indianapolis Colts, Sirianni’s shortcomings started to surface.

Examining the Eagles’ rapid decline under the current head coach, Cowherd expressed:

“What does Nick do? Does Nick call plays? No. Is he a defensive wiz? No, he’s an offensive guy. Culture-builder like Dan Campbell? No. Reportedly he doesn’t get along great with Jalen Hurts and doesn’t have his trust. He’s not great with the media and is not a quarterback ‘whisperer.’ You gotta be great at something. If even you’re struggling as a head coach – are you good on your side of the ball? They’re not.”

Cowherd emphasized his stance: “Philadelphia is one of the better-run organizations. They don’t sit around and wait,” advocating for a decisive action regarding the coaching situation.

He also reminded listeners that the Eagles have previously made swift decisions to replace coaches, such as Doug Pederson and Chip Kelly, when their approaches were misaligned with the team’s objectives. According to both Brown and Cowherd, Nick Sirianni should be considered for a similar move by the franchise to clear the way for a new beginning.
